ROSELAND UNIVERSITY PREP SENIORS HONORED WITH $5000 GRANTS
Recipients to attend Sonoma and San Francisco State Universities

The Santa Rosa Suburban Kiwanis Club Scholarship Fund selected two young women from the 2008 graduating class of the Roseland University Preparatory High School (RUP) to receive $5000 grants for college. The candidates, Griselda Vigil and Tamra Cavell, were selected from fourteen applicants who met the academic and residence requirements of the Fund. In the tradition of Kiwanis, the top candidates demonstrated a dedication to community service in addition to their academic achievements.

The Scholarship Fund was formed in 2000 and has provided nine grants to seniors at Montgomery and Maria Carrillo High Schools. This year the Fund honors the first graduating class from RUP with two 2-year grants. Recognizing both the high cost of college attendance and the importance of early preparation, the Fund provided an immediate grant of $1000 to each student and $2000 per year which will go to the college for tuition, housing, and fees.
